I began moving ideas from theory to practice in my mid-twenties, press cutting and arranging recycled magazine scrap into visceral compositions; learning to balance error, fragmentation and layered forms. My present works merge from combinations of oil and ink paintings to pastel drawings; rooted in distorted figurations and otherworldly landscapes. I construct surfaces that shift between in sensibility and unconstrained flow, allowing subconscious gestures to guide the work. It’s a cycle of cathartic release, translating representations of duality and expression into improvisational pieces. Acknowledging the input/output effect, transcending darkness to light and the therapeutic value that comes with it, is the core factor in the motive to create. Painting has not only saved me from inferior roams of the past but has granted a more in-depth purpose to exist.
